Original German WWII SS-Marked Walther P38 Black Pebble Grain Softshell Holster - Dated 1941

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased from a private collector, this is an excellent condition WWII production black pebble grain finished leather holsters for the standard issue Walther P-38 pistol in 9mm, stamped P38 on the back. It shows very few signs of use, and the leather is in great shape. More importantly, the rear of this holster is marked with two "Sig" symbol inside double circles, indicating this holster was intended for the SS (Schutzstaffel). Below this is a Waffenamt inspection stamp.

The holster is also marked cxe / 41, indicating manufacture by Britzer Eisenwerk Paul Szubinski, Britz Kreis Angermünde, in 1941. The holster is a bit stiff, having never been conditioned in the years since it saw light service. As this is pebble grain leather, the holster will probably require a bit more conditioning than a plain leather holster. However, we think it is just fine as is.

The Walther Pistole 38 (P.38) pistol was first introduced in 1938 as a replacement for the P.08. The P.38 was a more cost-efficient and more reliable in war conditions such as mud and rain. The P.08 was a typical prewar German gun, over engineered to perfection, with a sensitive toggle breech system that would malfunction when dirt was involved. The P.38 was a workhorse that did just what it was meant to do. It could handle most harsh battlefield conditions and as such the closed hardshell holster was discontinued later in the war and replaced for a partially open softshell holster. During the War close around 900,000 were produced, so the holsters were also produced in large quantities.

The perfect addition to any WW2 German SS  or Holster Collection, ready to display along with your P-38 Pistol.
