Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very nice service-used example of a German WWII SS enlisted man and NCO's stamped steel belt buckle (Koppelschloß). The obverse carries the familiar SS pattern with a spread-winged eagle above an oak-leaf wreath enclosing the swas. Surrounding the central device is the simulated twisted-rope border and the Gothic-script motto:

Meine Ehre heißt Treue

This translates as “My Honor is Loyalty,” the organizational motto of the SS.

The buckle is of stamped steel construction and retains portions of its original silver-gray surface finish, particularly within the protected recesses of the design. The higher portions have worn considerably from age and use, leaving much of the underlying metal exposed. There is oxidation and surface rust, especially around the outer field and lower edge, along with scratches and other handling marks. Despite the wear, the eagle, wreath, motto, and central design remain quite well defined.

The reverse shows the expected negative impression of the stamped obverse design and retains its complete belt attachment hardware. The roller bar, twin adjustment prongs, and belt catch are all present. Oxidation is visible on the steel hardware, but the assembly remains substantially complete. No manufacturer or RZM marking is present.

The earliest SS buckles were generally manufactured from nickel-silver and other nonferrous materials, with steel becoming the standard material during the wartime period around 1940. Steel examples were commonly zinc-treated and given gray or silver-colored finishes.
