Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice small example of a German WWII Era Naval Wassersportflagge (Water Sports Flag), measuring a very displayable 7 1/2" x 11". It is made of dyed wool with a canvas header, and the intact halyard is attached to a 13" tall aluminum pole. The bottom of the pole is threaded, so that it could be attached to the pole bolster on a boat. Based on the size of the flag, this was probably for a small powered boat.
The Water Sports Vessel flag was introduced on April 6TH 1936 and was mandatory to be flown from all vessels of the Navy Regatta Association, (Marine-Regattaverein), and all Kriegsmarine owned yachts and sailing vessels. The Water Sports Vessel flag was utilized for the duration of the war.
