Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner. Unlike most that we see, this one shows real period service wear, and doesn't look to have been one that was found in a drawer after the war. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The banner is single sided and of multi-piece construction, with a printed black swas (hook cross) in white canvas circle (one piece) stitched onto the red cotton background. There is also a white rayon fringe sewn onto the bottom, and it measures 29" x 39", not counting the fringe. There are hang ties attached to the top, and not a hanging slot, so it was most likely intended to be attached directly to the podium.
The banner is offered in wonderful service worn condition, with light fading on both sides. It also looks like the dye/ink used to print the swas onto the white circle has degraded the fabric, so it is literally falling apart where the dye was applied.
A very nice "salty" example, ready to add to your collection!
