Original German WWII Service Worn NSDAP National Flag Small Political Banner - 29" x 63"
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service worn condition WWII German National Banner, which measures a very displayable 29 inches wide by 63 inches long. These were displayed on buildings, on podiums during speeches, or sometimes even hung up at camps. It is of all cotton construction, and is double sided with a single piece cotton white circles with black Hakenkreuzen (Hook Crosses or Swastikas) dyed onto both sides.
Condition is good, with a very nice faded look on both sides of the banner. It definitely appears to have been hanging outside for some time, and there are water stains on the central white circle around the Swastika. There are also some small tears, holes, and areas of wear through as shown. The ends of the pole slot were sewn shut with black thread, and a white lanyard sewn into place, so this may have been hung at an angle or possibly perpendicular to the ground. Loads of history on this banner!
The NSDAP, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), was originally founded in Munich as the DAP, Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (German Worker’s Party), on January 5TH 1919. When Adolf Hitler joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921 Hitler was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy of four levels of government.
