  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely service used example of a German WWII Wehrmacht Heer Army Kriegspfarrer (Field Chaplain) armband (Ärmelbinde), the first example that we have ever had. Also known as an Wehrmachtpfarrer (Armed Forces Chaplain), they were very active in the field, often working closely with the military medical service (Sanitätstruppe). Due to this the armband design is essentially a modified medic armband, featuring a white cotton body with a machine embroidered red "Geneva Cross". Stitched around most of the circumference is a wide center stripe, made from lila (purple) rayon, the Waffenfarbe (Corps Color) during WWII for Kriegspfarreren (Field Chaplains) in the Heer Army. The armband measures approximately 13" x 3 7/8", and is sewn together in the back with a French seam. There is no edge stitching, as the badge has woven in closed edges.

The armband looks to have seen a good amount of use in the field, now showing age toning and light staining to the white band, as well as wrinkling and minor damage to the purple stripe. The rear seam is starting to pull apart at the bottom, and there is an old lightly rusted safety pin stuck through the rear. The front has a faded depot stamp, which we unfortunately cannot read.

A great example of a rare armband with a lovely aged look, ready to add to your German Armband collection!
