Original Item. Only One Available. This is an incredibly scarce German Double-Barrel signal flare pistol with Kriegsmarine proofing marks, manufactured in 1937 by Artillerie Werft Wilhelmshaven. This was the most famous flare gun designed for the Kriegsmarine, but it was nonetheless rejected in 1937. As a result, there is very little reference to this model, making it an increasingly rare piece of Kriegsmarine Field Gear. Not Available for Export.
The flare pistol is in fantastic shape overall, and has clear markings on both sides. The left side of the pistol is stamped

A.W.W. in this marking is the manufacturer, Artillerie Werft Wilhelmshaven, and the 37 indicates a manufacture date of 1937.
Constructed from solid brass overall, with a steel face to the breech and steel internal components, this flare pistol discharges both barrels simultaneously via an internal striker. The break-action still functions well, as does the safety tab on the left side. The safety tab has two positions marked Sicher (Safe) and Feuer (Fire), which lifts a small tab behind the trigger that will physically block it from being pulled. The checkered tab on the top when lifted upward will open the breech, and when fully opened will push back the firing pin housing which protrudes from the back of the pistol, indicating that it is ready to fire. The checkered bakelite grips are both in fantastic shape with some scuffing marks. The pistol measures roughly 8x2½x5”.
This is an extremely scarce piece of Kriegsmarine history that does not come up for sale often. This is the first example we have had the privilege of offering! Don’t miss it!
