Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent original German WWII brown leather breakaway pistol holster, dated 1942 and manufactured by Ernst Melzig of Liegnitz under the wartime maker code clg. The holster is configured for a compact 7.65mm service pistol and is represented here for the Walther PP, one of the principal German police and military sidearms of the period. Its rich brown leather, crisp wartime maker marking, intact stitching, and remarkably light service wear make this an especially attractive example.

The design follows the standard breakaway "high-front" design of the period. Some holsters were made to fit a variety of the various pistols in this chambering, however this one was made specifically to fit the Walther PP. This example is stamped under the securing strap clg / 42 for 1942 manufacture by the maker Ernst Melzig of Liegnitz.

The condition of the holster is excellent with very little period wear. The color is fantastic and the stitching is lovely. The leather is still supple, with fully intact stitching and no tears. The securing strap and breakaway bend do have minor crazing, but this isn’t serious.

The Walther PP was one of the most influential European police pistol designs of the interwar period. Its exposed hammer, double action trigger system, fixed barrel, and compact dimensions made it particularly suitable for uniformed and plainclothes service. During WWII, PP series pistols were used by German police organizations and were also carried by military officers and other authorized personnel.

With its clg / 42 Ernst Melzig marking, rich brown leather, classic breakaway construction, supple condition, complete stitching, and remarkably limited wear, this is a strong example of a wartime German compact pistol holster. It would pair particularly well with an appropriate Walther PP and would make an excellent addition to a collection devoted to German WWII police equipment, military sidearms, or Walther pistols.
