Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good service used condition example of a German WWII Schutzpolizei (Protection police) EM-NCO M38 overseas cap (Schiffchen). The overseas cap, nicknamed in German military slang as Schiffchen, or literally "little ship" as it resembled an up-turned row-boat, was standard issue for for all military and many of the civic organizations of the NSDAP as well.
This example is constructed of a gray wool exterior, with a light blue cotton rayon blend lining, which shows staining and wear from use. It features a fine BeVo style machine embroidered Civic Police Eagle trapezoid emblem on the lower front flap. The cap looks to possibly have been repaired at some point, as there are stitch seams under the side flaps, and some stitches at the bottom as well. This may also mean it was hand made by a tailor.
Condition of this cap is very good, though it definitely has seen long service. The fuzzy "nap" on the exterior is partly worn away in a lot of areas, except under the flaps where the surface is more protected. There is also what looks like a moth hole on the right side just above the flap. The police insignia shows wear and some age toning as well. The interior shows staining and wear to the lining, but no holes or other major issues.
