  • Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Insignia, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with. It includes nice variety of Police Insignia, as well as some things that we have never seen before!

    This lovely set includes:

    - One embroidered German WWII Schutzpolizei NCO Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen (Protection Police Arm Eagle Insignia). The badge features a charcoal gray wool background with Police Hellgrün (light green) rayon embroidery, the correct Truppenfarbe (troop color) for the protection police (Schupo). In November 1941, all Police Sleeve Eagles could cease to have district markings, so this was made afterwards. This example is made from wool felt and definitely looks to have been installed on a uniform before, as indicated by the stitch markings and stitching around the edge. It shows some tearing of the edges, and the front edge is a bit stained and worn.

    - One German WWII Schutzpolizei Protection Police NCO Meister Shoulder Strap, sew-in style. It is bordered with a single row of of fine silver flatware "Russia Braid" double piping around the edge, with brown chevrons woven into the design. Inside this is a braid of brown double piping woven together with the silver double piping with the same brown chevrons, giving them a lovely look. The base is the correct Hellgrün (light green) wool, which does show some moth damage. Meister (Master), or Warrant Officer, is highest NCO rank in the police, which did not have an armed forces equivalent, but was higher than an army Oberfeldwebel (Master Sergeant).

    - One PAIR of German WWII Polizei NCO Wachtmeister Shoulder Straps, unidentified branch. It is bordered with a single row of of fine silver flatware "Russia Braid" double piping around the edge, open at the end, with black chevrons woven into the design. Inside this is a row of earth brown double piping, and they have a Karminrot (carmine red) base and bottom strap. As the outer row of braid is open at the end, this is a shoulderboard for the police rank of Wachtmeister (Watch master), equivalent to an SS-Unterscharführer or U.S. Army Technical Sergeant. These have navy blue bases and straps, which is not a troop color we are familiar with.

    - One German WWII Zollgrenzschutz (Customs Border Guard) shoulderboard, button attached style. It has a row of half green half bullion double piping around the edge, with another row inside of Russia-braid with green chevrons. There is a single gold rank pip near the end, though we do not know what rank this signifies in the border guards.

    - One German WWII Police Shako Wappen Front Plate Insignia, made from stamped and silvered zinc alloy. It has lost some of the original curve, and now shows an overall oxidized patina on both sides, with a few areas where the original silvering is still retained. One of the threaded posts on the back has broken off.

    - One German WWII Police Visor Cap Stamped Aluminum Eagle Insignia. Retains both of the attachment prongs, and is marked on the back with [JFS] for Josef Feix & Söhne of Gablonz.

    - One 1942 dated German police support donation tinnie pin.

A wonderful totally genuine grouping perfect for the German Police Insignia collector. Ready to research and display!
