Original German WWII Pocket Watch in Case named to SS - Oberscharführer Alois Gruber - Fully Functional

Item Description

Original Item: One of a Kind. This is a good quality Pocket Watch, just like my everyone's grandfather had, and it still works. It is contained in a white metal outer case with viewing window by Primus and is named on the back to :-

ᛋᛋ-Oscha.
Alois Gruber
12./ᛋᛋ-3* DF*

This would indicate that the watch was issued or given to SS-Oberscharführer Alois Gruber, who was most likely in the XII SS Corps during WWII. This rank translates as "Senior squad leader", and was equivalent to the German Heer NCO rank of Feldwebel or the U.S. Staff Sergeant. The other numerals indicate which particular unit inside the division they were a part of, which unfortunately we have not been able to decipher. Even with a name and rank, much of the SS records were destroyed, so unfortunately identifying this soldier will not be easy.

The outer case even comes with its original plated steel watch chain. It has a back that folds open to stand the watch on a flat surface, and this also shows serial number 9071 - 10 on the inside of the plated back. The movement cover is also hinged and marked with the same number, and can be opened to show the working movement.

Just wind it and it works, ready for use or display!

There is no warranty for this watch and returns for a non-working watch will not be honored. Please note all watches are wound and tested then recorded on video before shipment. We are not in the watch repair business- ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
