  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce piece, the first of its kind we have seen, a 1944-dated German pickaxe with a 3-letter code ffy for Joh. Krumpholz of Durrenwaiderhammer / Bayern, a known toolmaker which is still manufacturing tools to this day. The head appears to have been repainted. These tools were used by Artillery units and often seen attached to WW2 German Tanks. A very unique classic German WW2 design; see "Uniforms and Tradition of the German Army 1933-1945" by Angolia and Schlicht, page 191 (photo).

The pickaxe has a 36 ¾” long shaft with a pick that has a 16 ¾” length. It’s marked on the bottom side of the pick:

    ffy
    44

A very interesting piece, ready for further research and display.
