Original Item: Only One Available. This a very rare example of a WWII German NSDAP Reichsdienstflagge (State Service Flag) Car / Automobile / Vehicle Fender Pennant (Wimpel) used for high ranking National Socialist Party official vehicles. This would indicate that the vehicle was there on official "State Service" reasons, allowing it to be easily identified at sensitive areas.
This Fender Pennant would have originally been enclosed in a original celluloid plastic covering with leather trim, with a a mounting post on the left side. However this example was cut out of that enclosure, and now only has some remnants of the celluloid near the edges, which have some of the original stitching. It looks like it was cut out in a hurry, probably by a USGI, as the pennants were usually attached to the fender.
The cutout pennant measures 6 1/2 inches in hoist and 11 1/2 inches in fly, and is double sided, made from four layers of cloth, two on each side. The design is simply a small version of the official NSDAP "State Service" Flag. It has a partly embroidered swas to the center, with an embroidered German Reichsadler Eagle in the upper left corner, which are sewn through both the red and white layers of fabric on each side.
