This is a very nice WWII German National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei - NSDAP) First Pattern Flag Pole Finial or Topper (Fahnenstange Endstück). The top piece is made of a nickel-plated alloy, with the shaft being plated steel.

The design is the standard NSDAP mobile/canted swas (hook cross) inside of a circle. It measures approximately 8 inches tall, and the top is 4 ¾ inches in diameter. There is some wear and oxidation to the plating, however no major flaking. Overall it is in very good condition, with no major deformation and just light scratches.

These Flag Pole Finials are extremely hard to find, as most were destroyed or melted back down as scrap. This is one in very nice condition, ready to add to any collection!

Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920.

The NSDAP Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany. The party was created to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism. Initially, NSDAP political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, although this was later downplayed to gain the support of business leaders, and in the 1930s the party's main focus shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.
