Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The banner is single sided and of multi-piece construction, with a black swas (hook cross) painted / printed onto a white canvas circle (one piece) stitched onto the red cotton background. This banner is a simplified design, so there is no white border around the central circle, though there still is a white rayon fringe on the bottom. It measures 37"L x 30"W, not counting the 2" fringe on the bottom. There is a folded over hemmed hanger sleeve at the top, and also securing ties at the corners. We also noted a hand-stitched on loop at the bottom front, now torn through, and it looks like there may have been a strip at the bottom for weight at one point, now removed.
The banner is offered in very good service used condition, showing overall age toning, as well as a few small holes near the top and scattered throughout the banner. It definitely looks to have been in service for a good amount of time during the NSDAP period, and really has a lovely aged look that would suit any collection.
