Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The banner is single sided and of multi-piece construction, with a multi-piece black swas (hook cross) sewn on on a white canvas circle (one piece) stitched onto the red cotton background. Around this is a stitched on light canvas square white border, and there is a white rayon fringe sewn onto the bottom. It measures 31" x 36 1/2", not counting the fringe on the bottom. There are still two out of three of the original brass hanger rings on the top of the banner, with the "right" side ring missing.
The banner is offered in very good condition, looking to have seen moderate use during the NSDAP period. There are no tears or similar damage to the banner from wear, though there is light staining and age toning throughout, especially on the white border. The stitching is all secure, as far as we can tell.
A very nice example, ready to add to your collection!
