  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice WWII German National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei - NSDAP) First Pattern Flag Pole Finial or Topper (Fahnenstange Endstück). It is constructed entirely of brass with an integral socket on the base. The one piece construction means that parts could not be lost, and there is a screw on the side of the socket to attach it firmly to the pole.

The design is the standard NSDAP mobile/canted swas (hook cross) attached directly to the top of the pole socket. The insignia looks to be cut out from sheet brass and soldered on, while the socket / base is two pieces of spun brass crimped and soldered together. It measures approximately 8 1/4 inches tall, and the top is 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Overall condition is very good, with a lovely mellow patina on the brass. There is some deformation to the bottom socket, which could probably be easily fixed, however it is part of the history of the piece, so we have left it as is.

These Flag Pole Finials are extremely hard to find, as most were destroyed or melted back down as scrap. This is one in very nice condition, ready to add to any collection!

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei , abbreviated NSDAP), commonly referred to in English as the NSDAP Party, was a far-right political party in Germany that was active between 1920 and 1945, that created and supported the ideology of National Socialism. Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920.

The NSDAP Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany. The party was created to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism. Initially, NSDAP political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, although this was later downplayed to gain the support of business leaders, and in the 1930s the party's main focus shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.
