Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German WWII NSDAP First Pattern flag pole finial, or Fahnenstange Endstück, of early multi-piece nickel plated brass construction. It retains the eagle, threaded steel attachment rod, double dish shaped spacer, and RZM M3/40 marked socket that fitted over the top of the flag pole.

The finial features the standard NSDAP spread-wing national eagle looking to its left and perched above a wreath containing a canted mobile swas. The eagle and wreath are executed in a substantial early pattern with separate mounting components rather than the simpler construction associated with some later finials.

The complete assembly measures approximately:

10 1/4" high, including the 2 1/2" socket
8 1/8" wide across the wing tips

The nickel plating remains in very good overall condition. Scattered oxidation and verdigris are present, while the extreme wing tips show localized plating loss that exposes the brass base metal beneath.

The original black paint within the swas is substantially retained on both sides. Some paint loss is present where oxidation beneath the surface has disturbed the finish.

The lower assembly retains its original threaded steel attachment rod, double dish shaped spacer, and pole socket. These separate components are especially important to the completeness and display quality of the finial.

Within the RZM system, the M3 category covered insignia and related metal emblems. The M3/40 code is attributed to Gebrüder Cossack, a known manufacturer of political symbols and flag fittings.

Overall condition is very good. The finial remains substantially complete, with attractive original plating, black painted detail, early multi-piece construction, and all major mounting components present.

With its imposing spread-wing eagle, early plated brass construction, complete threaded rod, double dish spacer, RZM M3/40 marked socket, and strong surviving finish, this is an appealing example of NSDAP ceremonial flag hardware. The scattered oxidation, verdigris, wing-tip plating loss, and black paint wear are fully disclosed. The NSDAP Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany.
