  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German WWII NSDAP first pattern flag pole finial, or Fahnenstange Endstück, constructed from solid cast aluminum in the early multi-part style. The finial features the familiar spread wing Party eagle perched above an oak leaf wreath containing a canted hook cross, and it is now mounted on a black marble display base added during the postwar period.

The aluminum eagle measures approximately 6 3/4" high, not including the base, and approximately 9 3/4" across the wing tips. The design depicts the NSDAP spread wing Reichsadler facing to its right, standing above an oak leaf wreath. The central hook cross retains a substantial amount of its original black painted finish within the recessed face. The finial is solid cast aluminum rather than plated construction, so the light surface wear visible on the eagle represents wear to the aluminum itself rather than loss of plating.

During the postwar period, the original threaded mounting rod was shortened and the finial was attached to a black marble display base measuring approximately:

    4" x 3" x 3/4"

The underside of the base is covered with green felt. The exact method used to secure the finial to the marble is not visible from the current construction.

Overall condition is very good. The aluminum eagle shows light age and handling wear, while the black painted recess of the central hook cross remains well retained. The later marble mounting provides a stable display format while clearly representing a postwar alteration to the original flag pole fitting.

With its first pattern multi-part construction, solid cast aluminum body, spread wing Party eagle, oak leaf wreath, surviving black paint, and substantial size, this is a strong example of an original NSDAP flag pole finial. The shortened threaded mounting rod and postwar marble display base are fully disclosed. It would display especially well in an NSDAP flag and banner fitting, political organization insignia, German WWII ceremonial equipment, or advanced flag pole hardware collection.

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei , abbreviated NSDAP), commonly referred to in English as the NSDAP Party, was a far-right political party in Germany that was active between 1920 and 1945, that created and supported the ideology of National Socialism. Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920.

The NSDAP Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany. The party was created to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism. Initially, NSDAP political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, although this was later downplayed to gain the support of business leaders, and in the 1930s the party's main focus shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.
