Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German WWII NSDAP Wimpel pennant flag of unusually small size and distinctive woven lacquered fabric construction. Measuring approximately 6" at the hoist and 8 1/4" in the fly, it is double sided with applied white circular fields bearing black swas emblems and retains its red edge binding, two metal grommets, and red suspension cord.

The pennant is of multi-piece construction, with white circular fields applied to both sides of the red body and black swas devices centered within them. Rather than conventional woven wool or printed flag cloth, the body and insignia appear to have been formed from narrow fabric strips interwoven in a crisscross pattern and then coated or consolidated with a lacquer-like finish.

The outer edge is finished with a red faux leather type binding that runs around the perimeter. Two metal grommets are fitted along the hoist edge and retain the red cord used for suspension or display.

Overall condition is very good. The pennant shows light age toning and minor wear to the red edge binding. The lacquered surface has developed scattered fine cracks with age, but the woven construction, applied insignia, grommets, and suspension cord remain intact and display well.

With its compact dimensions, double sided construction, woven lacquered fabric body, applied insignia, red edge binding, and original suspension cord, this is an unusual surviving example of a German WWII NSDAP Wimpel. The light edge wear, age toning, and cracking to the lacquered surface are all fully disclosed. It would fit especially well in an NSDAP political flag, small format pennant, German WWII textile, or advanced period display collection.
