Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a German Pre-WWII NSDAP 1933 Munich Gau Honor Badge (München Gau-Ehrenzeichen), offered in very good condition. The badge design features a central "mobile" swas (hook cross) with 1933 in the middle, surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. There is a banner wrapped around the wreath that reads UND IHR HABT DOCH GESIEGT ("And yet you have triumphed"), a reference to the participants of the failed "Beer Hall" putsch of 1923.
These badges were awarded to members of the NSDAP after A H was successfully named Chancellor, after which National Socialist rule began in Germany. The badge has a very nice safety pin attachment on the back, and looks to be made of bronze plated brass. There looks to be a number 11 stamped on the inside of the wreath on the back, but we do not know if this is a maker marking or just a mold number.
A very nice example of early NSDAP memorabilia, ready to display!
A Gau badge (Gau-Abzeichen) or Gau Commemorate Badges (Gau-Traditions, Gau-Ehrenzeichen) were a political award of the National Socialist Party, issued by various Gauleiters of the NSDAP political districts to recognize loyal service or to commemorate an event. A Gau of NSDAP Germany, which was a geographical region parallel to the traditional German states (known as Länder). The Gau badges were considered Party awards, but were not recognized as national awards. Regulations for award were determined by the Gauleiter as were any award degrees. They could be worn at any time, except when wearing the Golden Party Badge. A few were issued in different classes, such as silver and gold
