Original Item: Only One Available. This is an inert BATF compliant German WW2 Nebelkerzen 39 Smoke Candle Grenade Canister offered in very good condition.
Known as a Smoke Candle , Smoke Grenade or Smoke Canister, in German Nebelkerzen 39 abbreviated to Nb K 39 B
The purpose of this device was generally used in conjunction with different vehicles, were part of engineers (pioneers) kits, and were generally deployed to create smoke screen where needed and fill gaps in larger smoke screen many times in use of concealing tank (Panzer) positions.
Construction:
The smoke filter consists of an air and watertight, cylindrical sheet metal container filled with a mixture of zinc powder and hexachloroethane (this inert example is empty) and tightly closed by a lid and bottom. The smoke candle carries a white stripe around the body and the designation Nb K 39 B in white stencil. In the base are openings for the priming tube and two soldered smoke exhalation holes. The lid has a hinged carrying handle.
Measures approximately 6 inches tall with a diameter of 3.5 inches.
This example is offered in good condition with 75% original paint still intact, wartime markings and stenciling.
