Original German WWII Naval Kriegsmarine Donald Duck Cap Tellermütze - size 56
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice service worn Genuine WWII German Kriegsmarine sailor's Tellermütze (Flat Cap), usually referred to as a Donald Duck hat. This basic design was popular worldwide, and used by many countries. These caps were worn by all Junior NCO's and enlisted men. It is made of Dark navy blue wool, and is fitted with a black silk cap tally embroidered with the title Kriegsmarine in yellow thread. The tally is affixed by braided thread on the sides and back, though the right side thread is broken. This cap is a two piece design, so that the crown could be changed out for a white one if required.
On the front of the helmet is a very nice gold stickpin-style brass national eagle badge, with with a very nice metal tri-color cockade affixed above the ribbon. The interior is fitted with a brown genuine leather sweat band and lined with dark blue fabric, with a maker and size stamp on the top: JPM-B / 56. There is a also a faded maker stamp on the underside of the sweatband on the left hand side.
Condition is good but definitely worn from service and age. There is definitely wear through as well as mothing in areas, though overall it still retains its shape very well. A lovely service used example with loads of patina!
