Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition Genuine WWII German Kriegsmarine sailor's Tellermütze (Flat Cap), usually referred to as a Donald Duck hat. This basic design was popular worldwide, and used by many countries. These caps were worn by all Junior NCO's and enlisted men. It is made of Dark navy blue wool, and is fitted with a black silk cap tally embroidered with the title DEUTSCHLAND (Germany) in yellow thread. The tally is stitched on at the back, with three tails, showing only light wear.

The Reichsadler (National Eagle) and Tri-color cockade usually seen were never installed on this cap, which leads us to believe it was never put into service on a ship. It is maker marked on the inside with a logo surrounded by DEUTSCHES ERZEUGNIS / BESTE QUALITAT (German Product / Best Quality).  Beneath this is the city of manufacture, Danzig, Germany (today Gdansk Poland) and the color Echtblau (Real blue).
