  • Original Item: One-of-a-kind set. This is a small 11 x 7 inch National Flag of Germany from WW2 signed by USGIs and brought back as a trophy of war. Included with the flag is an NSDAP arm band that was also written on in ink and reads SOUVENIR, NOVEMBER 25, 1945. The Armband also bears a 1936 dated German tinnie.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify the group of men. We have successfully identified Private Leon B Lavallee ASN 31366657 from Massachusetts who enlisted on July 12, 1943 in Boston Massachusetts. However, we do not know his assignment. The flag is signed as follows (please note many names are not perfectly legible, in those cases we have made our best guess):

    Art Kearame (sp?)– Ohio

    Bob Jacobs – Ohio

    Leon Lavallee– Mass

    T Vickers (sp?) Sgt. 1944 – Fla.

    Johnny Bolf – Minn

    Art Neilson – Chicago

    A.E. Sheets – Okla

    “Tony” Pitanee (Sp?)

E DW “Spider” Meyers – Illinois

    Chuck R – Illinois

    Joseph Halloran – Massachussets

    Marion Ackerman – S.C.

    E. Hondos (sp?) – Cala

This is a fantastic research project, we have no doubt in its authenticity, but man names are not fully legible
