Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely WWII German Luftwaffe Summer Flyers Suit (Fliegerschutzanzug für Sommer) with original attached rank insignia to both sleeves for the rank of Feldwebel (Technical Sergeant). This is represented by the three white "gun wing" insignia on the patches. This is a one piece, coverall style summer flight suit constructed in slightly mottled, white flecked, tan cotton with leather and metal fittings. All buttons, snaps and zippers are complete and in very good to excellent condition. The snaps on the suit are marked PRYM 6H. All zippers function and are all marked either ZIPP D.R.P. or Ri Ri D.R.P., and retain their leather pull tabs. These are both known makers of zippers for the Luftwaffe during the war.
Unlike many we see, this example still has a fully intact and legible makers tag on the inside of the main closure, which reads:

CRAILSHEIM Wrttbg.
BAUMUSTER: Kso GEWICHT:
BAUJAHR 193 40 GRÖSSE: IIa
This indicates it was made in 1940, but was made when they still had tags left over from the 1930s, so it was probably early in the year. "Clothing Factory Habelf" was a known maker of these flight suits, often called "Fliegerkombi". Addtionally, there is a name tag next to the maker tag, which reads Engelhardt. The underside of the right shoulder flap is also marked L.B.A. (S) 40, for the Luftwaffebekleidungsamt, which means Air Force Clothing Office, which would indicate it was issued in 1940, in plenty of time to see some great battles! With a name and rank, it may even be possible to locate the soldier that it was issued to!
These coveralls were made to fit over regular uniforms. Overall excellent condition with minor wear and usage toning. There is some tearing at the end of the legs, and also there are definitely some period repairs to the inside if the suit. This is just how we like to see them: really used during a war!
A classic piece of Luftwaffe flight gear with insignia offered in great shape, with lots of research and display potential!
