Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind set. Gefreiter Fridolin Fuchs was killed in action on April 27, 1943 in Smolensk, Russia. Fuchs was initially assigned to the 3. Grenadier Regiment 103. The Panzer Grenadier Regiment 103 was erected on 5 July 1942 in Russia. The regiment was created by the renaming of the Sagittarius Regiment 103. After the formation of the regiment of the 14th Panzer Division remained subordinate. In January 1943, the regiment was destroyed in the battle of Stalingrad. Fucks was buried in the German War Cemetery Smolensk-Nishnjaja Dubrowinka, where he still lies today. Included in this incredible, very personal collection, are the following items:

- Iron Cross 2nd Class with named award document dated September 5th, 1942.

- Black wound badge with award document dated September 22nd, 1942.

- Eastern Front Medal (Awarded 1942)

- Infantry Assault Badge in Silver (Awarded 1943)

- Wehrpass with photo and a death stamp on cover. Final date stamped entry in January 1943.

- Official letter to his father returning the Wehrpass.

- Kennkarte with photos for both Fuchs and his wife.

- Multiple wartime studio photos of Fuchs in uniform wearing some of these very medals!

- Multiple wartime photos.

- Photos of his grave in the military cemetery at Smolensk-Nishnjaja Dubrowinka.

- Newspaper clipped death notices.

- Multiple hand written letters that Fuchs sent to his parents, the last was dated April 14th, 1943, just two weeks before his death.

- Fantastic photo album of the Fuchs family with many of Fridolin and some of him in uniform.

- Other wartime documents and papers.
