Original German WWII Named Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht Soldbuch - Issued February 1945

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice rare example of a German WWII Deutscher Volkssturm Wehrmacht (German people's storm defense force) soldbuch. This was basically a last ditch civic militia utilized in the end days of WWII, when German defeat was inevitable. The front cover reads DEUTSCH VOLKSTURM / Wehrmacht over a Reichsadler Civic Eagle. Under this is Soldbuch zugleich Personalausweis (Pay Book and Identity Card). There is no photograph inside the front cover, as often they did not have time to take any.

The first page indicates number 14, and gives the rank and name of the owner, however we have not been able to decipher any of it due to the messy handwriting. The next page gives the issue date of 5. Februar 1945, as well as the owners birth date of 18.10.92, so they were 52 when conscripted. The pages following contain payment and training information, and there is a glued in insert giving their assignment information, and what group was responsible for them.

Overall condition is good, though it has definitely been exposed to water, which has caused the ink to run in areas. These are exceptionally rare and difficult to find, especially ones that give specific regiments, making this a prime research candidate!

A very nice example from the last days of WWII Germany, ready to display!

The Volkssturm ("people's storm") was a national militia established by NSDAP Germany during the last months of World War II. It was not set up by the German Army, the ground component of the combined German Wehrmacht armed forces, but by the NSDAP Party on the orders of Adolf AH, and its existence was only officially announced on 16 October 1944. It was staffed by conscripting males between the ages of 16 and 60 years who were not already serving in some military unit. The Volkssturm comprised one of the final components of the total war promulgated by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, part of a NSDAP endeavor to overcome their enemies' military strength through force of will.
