Original German WWII Model 42 Inert Smoke Egg Hand Grenade - Nebeleihandgranate 42

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice inert example of the German M42 Nebeleihandgranate (Smoke Egg Hand Grenade), which has been deactivated to BATF specifications.

Not Available For Export

The model 42 was the last smoke grenade produced by Germany during WWII. It features a more compact design when compared to its stick grenade predecessor, the Nb.39. Furthermore, the elongated pear shape also allowed use as a pistol launched grenade.

These are quite uncommon as only about 1.8 million of these Mod. 42 eggs were produced compared to the 7.4 million of the Nebelhandgranaten (stick) types.

Constructed of a heavy gauge formed steel body in two sections with a crimped seam. The larger bottom contained the smoke compound, the upper part contained an igniting element and had three smoke escape holes. A rigid carry ring is attached at the base.

The fuse still retains the original green paint and is marked and dated with e / 41.

This example offered in very good condition is correct in all aspects but does look to have been repainted and does have paint chipping and oxidation present. It still has the original hanging ring on the bottom.

Comes more than ready for display.
