Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice 1936 Officers pattern Tschako, with the late pattern police green wool body and black leather trim. It has a very fine quality police officer eagle with a simulated wire aluminum cockade on the front (often missing) and black leather chinstrap around the "pickelhaube" style lugs. Higher ranks would have a scaled chin strap. A great Polizei helmet (shako) as used by the metropolitan police, unlike some of the more common ones found trimmed in brown for rural police, this one is with black trim for the municipal police.
Interior is in very good condition, with a supple leather liner that shows only light age and use. The leather top tie string is present, though it may be a period replacement. It still bears a somewhat degraded maker decal on the top of the crown, which also shows the size:
[HA]NS [RÖ]MER
[Ec]ht
[Fib]er-Tschako
57 1/2
Neu-Ulm (Donau)
The vents are present and in good condition, with the sliding covers for the front vents present and functional on both sides. The field green felt exterior is in great shape, and doesn't look to have had any moth damage or major wear during service. The leather trim is in good shape, with a nice lightly worn look, showing some checking in the black leather finish due to age. The chin strap is still supple, but does show some cracking in the finish and wear to the buckles.
Overall it is offered in very good condition from one of Germany's best manufactures of the time. Ready to display!
