Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of Mein Skizzenbuch (My Sketchbook), a collection of watercolor paintings and sketches by Hans Liska, an Austrian artist, painter, commercial artist, and painter who worked during WWII for newspapers and various party organizations during the WWII period. As best we can tell, this book is a part of a series collectively called Skizzenbuch aus dem Kriege (Sketchbook from the War), and there were several volumes, of which this looks to be the first, originally published in 1944.
The book is 34 pages long, including the introduction and short afterward, and measures 11 7/8" x 8 1/8". The cover is simply signed with a gray Hans Liska autograph, and has 63 pages of watercolor paintings as well as sketches, which are in various states of completion. Some have comments and other information on them, making this a really great book for anyone interested in combat art from WWII. The pages show a wide variety of different combat scenes, which are very well executed. It was very popular for USGIs to cut out pictures from these books and frame them, so finding intact examples is not easy.
Overall condition is very good, with some staining on the front cover, but no major damage. A very interesting artbook from WW2, ready to research and display!
