Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely German WWII Era Machine Gun commemorative plaque, most likely intended to be attached to some kind of wooden backing that would have another plaque indicating the unit. The plaque is plated cast non-magnetic alloy, and has a side profile of a German soldier behind the legendary Maxim MG 08 Machine gun on the iconic Schlittenlafette (Sled Mount). While these plaques were made from the WWII era, the image of the MG 08 and classic stahlhelm were so well known that they continued to be used for items such as this. This was especially true during the Pre-War period, before any of the more modern machine gun designs saw service.
The plaque measures 5 7/8" x 9 3/4", and has a small maker mark on the lower left that looks like an HB in a circle. There is also mold number 1485 on the reverse. A lovely piece of German WWII militaria, ready for further research and display!
