  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service used genuine steel construction M34 "Square Dip" Third Reich helmet, most likely original outfitted for German WWII Police Use. Post war, the decals were removed from the helmet, and it was instead fit with replica decals for Werksluftchutz Factory Air Raid Protection at the Daimler-Benz Aktiengesellschaft factory in the Untertürkheim district of Stuttgart. Known for their "Mercedes Benz" line of automobiles, this motor vehicle company was vital to the German war machine, and as such had a large factory contingent.

The helmet has a post war version of the iconic MERCEDES BENZ roundel emblem on the right side, and on the inside of the rear there is a replica of the Werkluftschutz property tag, which reads:-

    (⅄) EIGENTUM (⅄)
    Daimler-Benz AG
    Stuttgart - Untertürkheim
    WERKLUFTSCHUTZ

The helmet is overall in service used condition, showing heavy wear to the paint on the exterior consistent with age and long use. There is some light denting and definitely extensive oxidation, and it has a great well used look. The leather liner on the inside does show wear, and we were not able to see any size, but it looks to be quite small. The pebbled leather chin strap is still present, but definitely does show age and wear, being in delicate condition. All five of the leather tabs for attaching a neck guard are still present.

A wonderful German WWII M34 civic issue helmet from WWII, outfitted with replicated Mercedes Benz Air Raid Protection decals. Ready to add to your collection!

    History of the RLB
The Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) (National Air Raid Protection League) was organized by Hermann Göring in 1933 as a voluntary association. Existing volunteer air raid precaution associations were forced to merge with RLB. In 1939 the RLB became a Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts (quasi-autonomous non-governmental organization), while in 1944 it became an affiliated organization of the NSDAP Party. It was in charge of educating and training ordinary German men and women in civil defense procedures necessary for the basic level of local self-help of the civil population against air raids. The local level was formed around air raid wardens and operated in small first intervention squads. The training include fire fighting, protection against chemical weapons, communication procedures and preparation of houses and apartments against air raids.
