Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This type of stag-gripped single-etched 98k Bayonet was generally used for parade purposes. This example is a near mint etched Luftwaffe bayonet with incredible stag grips. The nickel plating throughout the hilt and crossguard of this example is excellent with very little wear. The mortise button and release work perfectly. The original red felt is still in the rifle slot.

The grip plates of this example are extraordinary deep stag. Both grips have been beautifully hand carved for a perfect tight fit and are retained by nickel-plated steel rivets having dressed heads on the obverse. The scabbard is straight throughout. This scabbard has 98% original paint. The black frog is well worn.

The short blade is a very fine near mint example having good bright finish and medium size fuller. The obverse of the blade is plain. The reverse of the blade however has a fine etch featuring 100% of the original frosting in the backgrounds. The etch features a two-line standard remembrance and on the left side is an open-winged eagle with swas in its talons and on the right side is a drop tail Luftwaffe eagle. The bayonet is not maker marked.

The original brown leather blade buffer is in place. A near mint bayonet with incredible thick stag grips.
