Item Description
Original Items: Only One Available. This is an actual Variometer Verticle Speed Indicator, as used in the German WWII Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter! It is made of brown bakelite, and the face registers speed in meters per second from 0 to 5 in both the Steigt (increasing) and Sinkt (sinking) directions. The back is marked with Luftwaffe stock number Fl. 22382. The reverse still has both hose plugs still present, which are marked Stat. / Druck, for Statischem Druck (static pressure), and Ausgleichs-gefäß (Expansion tank). These connect to pressure tubes connecting to air outside the plane and to an internal compensating tank.
Condition is very good, and it has a data plate on the side with all of the manufacturer and contract information, reading:

The glass is in great shape, and there is no damage of any type that we can see besides some wear and verdigris. In addition to the Me 109, this instrument was also used in the WWII-era Luftwaffe aircraft Fw190, Ta152, Do335, Me110 Bomber, and Me262 Jet Fighter.
