  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good original German WWII Luftwaffe LKp W101 winter flying helmet, constructed from dark brown leather with a warm fur lining and chamois-covered interior contact areas. The original specification label identifies it as a size 58 LKp W101, Gerät-Nr. 124-436 A, with Anforderungszeichen Ln 26618, carrying Siemens identification and naming Luftfahrt-Gerätewerk Hakenfelde G.m.b.H. as the supplier. The helmet retains both chin straps and buckles, but its communications equipment is incomplete: the external wiring has been cut away at the rear and both original earphone receivers are missing.

The helmet still has a clear original manufacturers tag on the interior rear:

    FL. Kopfhaube Gr. 58
    Baumuster LKp W101
    Gerät - Nr 124-436 A
    Werk - Nr –/Koster
    Anf. Z Ln 26618
    Siemens
    Lieferer: Luftfahrt-
    Gerätewerk Hakenfelde
    G.m.b.H.

Condition is very good, with the expected wear from service. There is definitely minor sweat staining on the interior, on both the chamois and shearling. Both chin straps are still intact, as are both buckles.

The LKp W101 was designed for Luftwaffe flying personnel generally, rather than exclusively for fighter pilots. Its insulated construction and integrated communications system made it suitable for aircrew operating in numerous aircraft types and roles where reliable radio communication and cold-weather protection were required.

With its size 58 label, LKp W101 designation, Gerät-Nr. 124-436 A, Ln 26618 requirement number, Siemens identification, Luftfahrt-Gerätewerk Hakenfelde supplier marking, intact leather shell, fur lining, and complete chin straps and buckles, this remains a strong representative example of German WWII Luftwaffe winter flight equipment. The missing headphones and cut wiring are significant completeness issues, but the clearly marked helmet itself remains highly suitable for the study and display of Luftwaffe aircrew equipment.
