Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Development of protective flight uniforms and equipment began with the advent of military aircraft in WWI and continued on into the Weimar and the Third Reich eras, resulting in three distinct one-piece combination pattern flight suits being approved before WWII and worn for the duration of the war with minor modifications.
This is a very good condition early war, heavy, one piece, coverall style, winter flight suit constructed in brushed grey velveteen fabric with a large chocolate brown fleece, lay down collar. There is a tag in-between two of the buttons, but it is mostly too worn to read, but we can make out the word SEROKA. This is a good opportunity for further research. We checked the zippers, and they are all maker marked, made by Elite, Ri Ri, and ZIPP, which are all known Luftwaffe zipper suppliers. Most retain their leather tabs, and we also checked the snaps, which are all marked PRYM / 6H, another known Luftwaffe supplier.
The fur lining is well-retained, and the zippers and buttons all appear functional. However, there are some small holes and tears across the exterior fabric, the largest being a tear in the right side pocket.
This is a lovely example which will fit well into any German flight collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
