Original German WWII Luftwaffe Fleece-Lined Leather Pilot Flying Boots with Reinforced Feet - Single Zipper

Regular price $795.00

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Pair Available. This is a very nice lightly service-used pair of German World War Two fleece-lined Luftwaffe Airman's Flying Boots. The construction is of brown leather for the shoe area bottom of the shafts, while the tops of the shafts are white suede. Both labels on the inside of the zipper closures are unfortunately completely faded, so we cannot see the size or maker markings.

The zippers are completely original and both are “Ri-Ri” patent marked, for a known supplier of Luftwaffe zippers during WWII. The fleece linings are in good condition, with most of the fur still present, however there is definitely some light mothing and deterioration, but the suede upper portion of the boots are in great order. The zippers and snaps are all fully functional, though may require lubrication.

The boots measure approximately 16 inches tall from the heel to the top of the shaft, and the soles are both 12 inches long from heel to the tip of the toe. There is a very interesting patch repair on the side of the suede on the left boot. Both boots have very interesting buckled leather reinforcements to help the joints of the feet. A very attractive addition.

A very nice addition to a Luftwaffe or Battle of Britain collection!

The Luftwaffe was the air force of Germany prior to and during World War II. Luftwaffe styles of uniform and rank insignia had many unique features between 1935 and 1945. By decision on February 26, 1935, the Luftwaffe was to be officially the third branch of the Wehrmacht as of March 1, 1935. The new Luftwaffe was faced with the problem of uniforms, as they wanted a uniform distinct from those of the other two branches of the Wehrmacht (Heer and Kriegsmarine) and also wanted a clear differentiation in dress of military and civilian flyers.
