  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice German WWII Cased Presentation "Table Medal", a large award usually displayed on a shelf or table, as the name implies. Based on the inscription, it was awarded for Excellent Service in the Technical branch of the Luftwaffe. The medal itself measures about 75mm in diameter, and is 5mm thick, made of die struck zinc alloy. It looks to originally have been silver washed, but that has since faded. It comes in a very nice satin and velvet lined case measuring about 3 3/4" square, with a functional hinge and lock.

As with many presentation items given by the Luftwaffe, the front of the table medal bears a side profile of the Luftwaffe Commander and Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring, surrounded by his titles:

    DER OBERBEFEHLSHABER DER LUFTWAFFE
    (Göring Profile)
    REICHSMARSCHALL GÖRING

The reverse is marked with the following statement:

    FÜR AUSGEZEICHNETE LEISTUNGEN
    IM TECHNISCHEN DIENST DER LUFTWAFFE

This roughly translates to "For Excellent Performance In The Technical Service Of The Air Force." We unfortunately have not been able to find if there are any "official" guidelines for the presentation of these awards. However it is clear the recipient must have made great contributions to the war effort.

The medal has a lovely oxidized patina, and the case is in great shape. Ready to display!
