Original German WWII Lot of Three Womens Association Badges - 1 Midwives Badge & 2 Female Labor Front

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot of 3 Available. This is a wonderful lot of items which were more than likely brought home by American soldiers at the end of WWII. They are in lovely condition and are perfect for the young collector who is looking to add a variety of insignia to bolster their collections!

These three badges are from two of the Womens Associations that were founded by or absorbed by the NSDAP.

The first badge is a Deutsche Reichs Hebammen Mitgliedsabzeichen (German Reich Midwives Membership Badge), also sometimes called a "Midwives Brooch". It is the higher grade with gold lettering and a wreath around the edge. It features a horizontal pinback, and is marked GES. GESCH. on the back, indicating that it is a trademarked design. There is the embossed image of a midwife holding a newborn baby in the center, with a white enamel cross around it containing the letters D R H and a Swas. The blue circle around the is marked with IM DIENSTE DER ZUKUNFT UNSERES VOLKES (Im Dienste der Zukunft unseres Volkes).

This organization had been known by several names during the NSDAP period, and like many civil organizations the name gradually changed as the NSDAP gained full control of every aspect of life. Earlier versions did not have the Swas present.

The other two badges are triangular rank badges from the Frauenamt der Deutsche Arbeitsfront (Female Department of the German Labor Front), both of which represent the rank of Frauensachbearbeiterin (Shop steward) in the Betriebsgemeinschaft (Factory Community), and display the Swas inside a Gear emblem of the DAF. Around this is a black triangle, with a colored stripe inside silver borders.

The badge with the blue stripe represents the ORTS (Local) level of the community, and is ((RZM)) marked M1/78 on the back for maker Paulmann & Crone, Lüdenscheid. The badge is in very good condition, with the silvering still bright and the enamel close to 100%!

The badge with the red stripe represents the GAU (Region) level of the community, and is ((RZM)) marked M1/13 on the back for maker Christian Lauer, Nürnberg. The badge is in very good condition, with the silvering and enamel close to 100%! The silver has a lovely tarnished patina, giving it a great look.

A very nice set of seldom seen badges from the German WW2 period, ready to add to your collection!
