  • Original Items: One Set of Seven Available. During the early NSDAP period in Germany, propaganda was deemed of utmost importance to develop a solid hold on the government of the country. Many items were published detailing the leaders of the NSDAP, as well as their daily lives, into which snippets of NSDAP ideology were injected. These little 1 7/8" x 1 3/8" books are mostly full of photos, with just a bit of commentary, and appear to have come as part of a variety of different "series". All have the WHW Winter-hilfswerk logo on the back, so they were probably sold to benefit the WHW.

    This set includes:
    - THREE Der Führer macht Geſchichte (The Führer makes history) books, dated 1933, 1934, and 1938. The 1933 edition notably shows the famous picture of President Paul von Hindenburg shaking Adolf H's hand, while the 1937 edition shows Adolf H meeting Mussolini.
    - TWO Des Führers Kampf im Osten (The Führer's Struggle in the East) books, which are full of pictures from the Eastern / Russian front of WWII. These are not dated, but are numbered 4 and 5.

All the books are in very nice condition, and two still retain the original strings on the back. Ready to research and display!

The Winterhilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes (English: Winter Relief of the German People), commonly known by its abbreviated form Winterhilfswerk (WHW), was an annual drive by the National Socialist People's Welfare (German: Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt) to help finance charitable work. Its slogan was "None shall starve or freeze". The drive was originally set up under the government of Heinrich Brüning in 1931, though Adolf AH would later claim sole credit. It ran from 1933 to 1945 during the months of October through March and was designed to provide food, clothing, coal and other items to less fortunate Germans during the inclement months.

    NSDAP Party

The NSDAP, officially the National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP), was a far-right political party in Germany active between 1920 and 1945 that created and supported the ideology of N**ism. Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920. The Party emerged from the extremist German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post–World War I Germany. The party was created to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism. Initially, N**i political strategy focused on anti–big business, anti‑bourgeois, and anti‑capitalist rhetoric. This was later downplayed to gain the support of business leaders, and in the 1930s the party's main focus shifted to antisemitic and anti‑Marxist themes.

Ad**f Hi**er, the party's leader since 1921, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by President Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933. Hitl** rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich. Following the defeat of the Third Reich at the end of World War II in Europe, the party was "declared to be illegal" by the Allied powers, who carried out denazification in the years after the war both in Germany and in territories occupied by NSDAP forces. The use of any symbols associated with the party is now outlawed in many European countries, including Germany and Austria.
