Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare totally genuine WWII late ware canvas and leather bayonet frog (Seitengewehrtragetasche), as used with the bayonets for the K98k and other service rifles. This particular style of late war field gear is known as "Texled", or a combination of Textil (fabric) and Leder (leather), and they come in many different variations with regards to material components. Basically it was the end of the war, and they used whatever materials were available to construct usable field gear. Some would even use Preßstoff (Press Material) imitation leather, which is made from multiple layers of pressed paper. Just about every combination was seen.
This example is made from an olive green web canvas body, with a stitched on leather scabbard loop secured with steel rivets, and a leather securing strap with an aluminum stud. It looks like there may have at one time been a marking stamped into the front of the scabbard loop, but it cannot be read now, and there are no other markings on the frog. It looks to have seen a good amount of use, but is still in very good condition, with the stitching and rivets all intact. There is some degradation to the leather from age and use, but there are no large tears or other issues. The frog measures 9 inches in overall length.
