Original German WWII Kriegsmarine Navy Coastal Artillery EM/NCO Regenumhang Rubberized Rain Cape with Hood

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely matured example German WWII Kriegsmarine Navy EM/NCO Regenumhang Rain Cape made from rubberized field gray fabric. These were not really suitable for use in the high winds seen at see, so these were used by Kriegsmarine ground personnel, specifically those in the Küstenartillerie coastal artillery defense units. They had to be ready for incoming craft regardless of the weather, and these would be quite useful during rainy weather.
The rain cape is made from medium weight rubberized material, and is field gray in color, as used by the Kriegsmarine when on land. It features a 5 button front closure, as well as slits on the side for the arms, which are held closed with 2 buttons on each side. This would definitely come in handy if the wearer had to operate artillery pieces. All of the buttons are all field-gray painted non-magnetic navy buttons, which are sewn directly to the fabric and maker marked on the back. The top of the cap features a very nice lay down collar, which is fitted with Kriegsmarine EM/NCO litzen, with gold stripes on green backgrounds.
Attached to the top of the rain cap is an original rubberized fabric rain hood, which is secured to the cape by buttons on the shoulder and collar areas. We were not able to get it to flip up into position, as it is quite stiff, and we did not want to risk damage to the fabric.
We very rarely see rain gear from the WWII Era in such nice shape, as items like these were often used to destruction in the post war years, or broke into pieces after they became stiff. This will make a welcome addition to any German WWII Kriegsmarine or Uniform collection.
