Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice Heer Army Nachrichtentruppe (Signal corps) wall plaque, made from a wooden backing board measuring 7 1/2"H x 9 5/8"W. Attached to the front is a lovely plated alloy eagle with lightning bolts in its mouth, the insignia of the signal corps, responsible for setting up and maintaining communication equipment. It holds a square panel with the letter F in the middle over Fernsprecher (Telephone), indicating that it was for the section dealing with wired communications. We can see below this that there was probably a unit plaque installed, but later removed, leaving only two small holes.
Condition is very good, with a lovely patina, showing some wear through on the plating applied to the eagle. There are also two hanger loops attached to the backing for display, which have a piece of wire strung between them. Definitely an interesting piece of German WWII memorabilia!
