Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice set of German WWII Heer Army Panzer Collar Tabs / Patches. Known as Kragenpatte in German, these were attached to the collars to indicate the rank and branch of the wearer. The Panzer armored corps in particular had the design of their insignia change over the NSAP period, particularly when certain troops began to wear the iconic black tanker uniforms.

This lovely little set consists of the following:

- One PAIR (left and right) of 1935 Pattern Heer Army Panzer EM/NCO field uniform collar tabs, with the standard internal lacquered buckram stiffeners under the wool. These have two parallel machine embroidered Litzenspiegel on the flaschengrün (dark bottle-green) wool backing, symbolizing the double braid of the 19th century. Each of these has a rose pink Mittelstreifen (median strip), the correct Waffenfarbe (Corps Color) for armored troops and tank destroyers. Beginning in 1938, the corps color was removed for EM/NCO collar tabs.

Condition is excellent, and they pretty much look unissued, possibly never put into service before Waffenfarbe on the collar tabs was discontinued.

- One RIGHT side panzer collar tab with a Danziger style Totenkopf (Death's Head) skull over crossed bones. This looks to be the EM/NCO type worn on the field gray uniform, which is why it does not have any Waffenfarbe around it, which was discontinued for lower ranks later in the war. It features an internal stiffener, and one of the two clips on the back of the skull is missing.

Condition is very good, showing some repairs and mothing to the felt. It definitely looks like it was removed from a uniform that was in service.

The Heer as the German army and part of the Wehrmacht inherited its uniforms and rank structure from the Reichsheer of the Weimar Republic (1921–1935). There were few alterations and adjustments made as the army grew from a limited peacetime defense force of 100,000 men to a war-fighting force of several million men.

These ranks and insignia were specific to the Heer and in special cases to senior Wehrmacht officers in the independent services; the uniforms and rank systems of the other branches of the Wehrmacht, the Luftwaffe (Air Force) and Kriegsmarine (Navy), were different, as were those of the SS which was a Party organization outside the Wehrmacht. The NSDAP Party also had its own series of paramilitary uniforms and insignia.
