Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely hand embroidered bullion Wehrmachtadler breast eagle from a German WWII Heer (Army) Officer's Wool Tunic. Bullion eagles such as these are usually associated with pre and early war issue, but they were made throughout the war for officers. These were worn on the breast of the uniform tunic, just above and sometimes partly on the pocket.
This example was cut off a uniform, complete with some surrounding fabric, most likely removed using scissors, as the cuts are quite neat. The insignia is about 3 1/2" x 1 5/8", with the uniform section measuring approximately 4" x 2 1/8". The eagle definitely shows signs of use, with oxidation to the aluminum bullion, and some fraying of the threads that secure the bullion as well. There is also some of the fabric backing to the eagle missing, while the uniform section also shows some wear from use and mothing.
A very nice example of a German WWII "Cut Off" officer eagle, ready to display!
