Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful service-used example of an M31 Haversack, also known as the “bread bag”. The bag is mostly complete, with the main deficiency being the missing center strap with the hook on it. This looks to have been cut off long ago, and the section of the strap with the leather tab on it inside the bag is still present. Aside from this, the straps, loops, and buttons are all still present and intact, except for the left leather loop on the top flap, which is torn. The canvas body still has a lovely color to it and is similar in appearance to the tropical bread bags but has leather closure tabs and fittings instead of the iconic webbing. These were brought out later in the war circa 1943-1944.

Overall condition is consistent with moderate use during the war, and possibly afterwards. There is a K. M. marking on the flap, which we assume are the initials of the owner. There are some stains and light wear to the fabric, but no tears or holes.

A lovely example presented with some great original canvas. Comes ready for further research and display.
