Original Item: Only One Available. This is an original German WWII Heer Army enlisted man or NCO BeVo woven breast eagle removed from a field uniform with a substantial section of the original tunic fabric still attached. The surviving feldgrau wool, original stitching, and portion of interior lining make this more visually and historically interesting than a loose insignia that was never mounted or has been removed from its backing.
The insignia is the 1940 pattern Wehrmachtadler, woven with a gray eagle on a light green background. This pattern was worn on the right breast of Heer tunics, positioned above the pocket and sometimes extending partly over its upper edge depending upon placement and tailoring.
The eagle measures approximately 4" x 1 5/8". The complete uniform cutoff measures approximately 4 3/8" x 2".
The insignia remains attached to a section of original feldgrau wool uniform material with period style stitching. The reverse retains part of the tunic’s light gray interior lining, providing a useful view of how the eagle was mounted through the exterior fabric and into the uniform construction.
The section appears to have been removed from the tunic with scissors, leaving an irregular border of wool surrounding the insignia. This type of cutoff was frequently retained as a wartime souvenir because it could be removed and carried more easily than a complete uniform.
The attached wool is consistent with German wartime field uniform material. While the original draft identified it specifically as fabric from an M36 tunic, the surviving cutoff does not provide enough construction detail to conclusively determine the exact tunic model from this section alone.
This is an appealing original Heer uniform cutoff with its BeVo breast eagle, feldgrau wool backing, original attachment stitching, and surviving interior lining all still together. It would display especially well in a German WWII uniform insignia, Heer field equipment, veteran souvenir, or battlefield pickup collection.
