  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice original German WWII Heer Army BeVo-style breast eagle removed from an enlisted man’s or NCO’s HBT reed-green field tunic. The insignia is the 1940-pattern machine-woven type, with a gray Heer eagle set against a light green background for wear on the tropical or reed-green field uniform.

These breast eagles were worn on the right breast of the tunic, positioned above and sometimes partially overlapping the upper pocket. The lightweight woven construction was particularly well suited to HBT, or herringbone twill, work and field uniforms.

This example was cut directly from its original tunic and retains a section of the surrounding reed-green HBT fabric. The edges appear to have been removed with scissors or a sharp blade, leaving the insignia intact and preserving clear evidence of its original uniform application.

The eagle itself measures approximately 4 1/8" wide by 1 5/8" tall. The complete section of retained uniform fabric measures approximately 4 5/8" by 2".

The surrounding material is the correct green HBT fabric used for German Army Drillich field and work tunics during WWII. Both the insignia and retained uniform material show only light wear, with good color and no significant damage.

Uniform-cut insignia have strong collector appeal because they retain part of the original garment and clearly show how the insignia was worn. This is an attractive and well-preserved example suitable for display in a Heer uniform, insignia, or battlefield souvenir collection.
