Original German WWII Heer Army 1938 Dated Heavy Burlap Ration Grain Sack - 44 1/2" x 28"
Original Item. Only One Available. Made from heavy burlap cloth, this is a German WWII Issue Army Ration Grain Sack, measuring approximately 44 1/2"H x 28"W when flat. A steady supply of food was vital to any fighting force, and sacks were the preferred way of transporting grain, which has not changed much since WWII. The bag has a large stenciled Wehrmachtadler (Armed forces eagle), over a stencil identifying is correct usage and date of manufacture:
This is the German Abbreviation for Heeres Verpflegung, or "Army Rations". There are also some faded other stenciled marks, possibly unit markings.
Condition is very good, especially considering the age, with the expected light staining and wear from use. Unlike most we see, there are no tears or repairs, making this a top condition early war example!
A very interesting piece of German WWII militaria, ready to display!
